The Lady Rebels fought back in the second half of Thursday night’s game to defeat No. 18 Georgia 55-52 in front of a huge home crowd.
Ole Miss (14-4, 4-1 SEC) tied the game up at 52 points with 1:26 left to go in the game. The Rebels moved ahead on free throws made by Erika Sisk to clinch the victory.
Coach Matt Insell’s squad picked up their first win against an AP ranked team since the 2010-11 season. Ole Miss remains undefeated at home against SEC opponents.
The Rebels came out on fire against the Bulldogs in the first half as Gracie Frizzell started the night 2-for-2 from beyond the arc.
Four Rebels scored double figures against Georgia led by Tia Faleru and Sisk who both had 12 points, and Daniele McCray and Frizzell both added 11 points.
In the first half, Ole Miss shot 42 percent from the field and went 3-for-7 from beyond the three point line as a team.
When both teams went into the dressing rooms at halftime, the game was also tied at 28.
Georgia has put up a lot of points this season,and against Ole Miss, they keep that same game plan.
After the 16 minute mark in the second half, the Dawgs went on a 8-3 run, giving Georgia a 40-36 advantage in the game with Barbee and Hempe leading the charge in scoring for Georgia with 8 and 6 points respectively.
Up next for the Rebels is a trip into College Station to take on Texas A&M in a nationally-televised game on the SEC Network. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. CT Sunday from Reed Arena.
