The Ole Miss defeat to Arkansas was the worst shutout loss by a Top Ten team since 1990! But, rather than dwell on this horrific loss, let’s all attempt to focus on the Egg Bowl.
As to the rest of the league, Missouri held off a stubborn Tennessee team and now only has Arkansas left in their path to take the Eastern division title from Georgia who has already completed conference play. Alabama, MSU, Auburn, SC and Florida all won big along with Georgia as LSU and Texas A&M rested as they prepare to test their 7-4 records to see which team goes 8-4. Let’s hope it’s A&M for bowl considerations.
The “Final Four” still has Mississippi State as a solid contender and if the Bulldogs can handle Ole Miss similar to the way Arkansas did, they should get in. Bama appears as a lock along with FSU and Oregon. TCU, Ohio State and Baylor are still possibilities.
The bowls should all sort themselves out within the next two weeks, but as of right now the Rebs will be seventh in the pecking order out of the twelve teams going…a huge drop from the position just weeks ago with the 7-0 record atop the league standings.
